"HELP! I'M AFRAID"
Imagine . . .
It's a dark, stormy night and you are all
alone in your room. Suddenly you hear the powerful rumble of thunder and
see the flashes of lightening. It's a bad storm. You are afraid.
Who do you run to for help?
Imagine . . .
You are shopping at the mall with your
parents. You stop for a minute to look at the puppies in the window at
the pet shop. When you look up, your parents are no where to be found.
You are lost. You are afraid. Who will you get to help?
Imagine . . .
The telephone rings. Your mother answers
it. She drops the phone and starts to cry. That was the hospital
calling. Your grandfather was in a very bad car accident. You are
afraid. Who will you turn to for help?
Situations like this sometimes happen.
Yes, these things can be very scary. They can make you afraid. Who
can you run to? Who can you turn to? Who can you get to help?
Will you jump into your parent's bed and feel
safe with them?
Will you find a local policeman and tell him
your problem?
Will you trust in the doctors to help?
Many times we can and should go to our parents
or policemen or doctors or other adults we know. These are people God
has placed in our lives to help us and protect us.
But, first try going to the Rock!!!
The Rock!
God's Word says in the book of 2 Samuel 22:2, "The
Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my
deliverer . . . in Him will I trust." The Lord is our Rock.
He is the strong One we can always turn to and trust to keep us safe and to
help us in time of need. He knows when we are afraid. He
knows when we are in danger. He knows when we are feeling
alone. God knows and He cares. We can know for sure that God knows
everything that happens in our lives. We can know for sure that God
loves us perfectly and that He always does what is best for us.
Next time something happens that scares you, go
to the Rock. You can say, "Help, Lord,
I am afraid." Then trust in Him.
Perhaps you realize today that you can trust in
the Lord during difficult times. But, have you trusted in Him for
the most important thing of all? Have you trusted the Lord to be your
Savior from sin?
The Bible says, "Jesus
. . . shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).
Jesus, God's perfect Son, came here to earth knowing what would happen to Him.
He came here to die. He came here to be hung on a cross, to bleed, and
to take the terrible punishment for the wrong things (the sins) you and I do
each day. Jesus died, but He isn't a dead Savior. He rose again!
He's alive! It's only by trusting in Jesus that you can have your sin
forgiven.
Have you trusted the Lord Jesus to be your
Savior? If not, place your trust in Him today. Ask Him to forgive
your sin and to come into your heart.
The LORD . . . The ROCK
. . . The SAVIOR.
