BROKEN ON THE INSIDE
Does your mouth always say what it should . . . or does
it sometimes say bad and unkind things?
Do your hands always do that they should . . . or do
they sometimes do wrong and hurtful things?
Do your ears always hear what they should . . . or do they sometimes
listen to things that are not good to hear?
We can all answer the same way . . . our mouths, hands,
ears and all the other parts of us don't always do what is good and
right. Does that mean that our mouths, hands, and ears are broken?
Of course not! When we do wrong, sinful things, it isn't because we're
broken on the outside. It's because we're broken on the inside.
The Bible says in Matthew 15:18-19, "Evil
words come from an evil heart . . . For from the heart come evil thoughts,
murder . . . theft, lying." The sinful things that
our eyes, ears, mouths, hands, and feet do start in the heart. Let's
look at another verse from God's Word that talks about the heart.
Jeremiah 17:9 tells us, "The heart is
deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked."
It's your heart - the REAL YOU - that is sinful and wicked.
What can we do about our sinful heart? We can't do
anything to fix our sinful hearts. Only Jesus can do that!
What did Jesus do so we can be fixed on the inside?
He was nailed onto a wooden cross where He bled and died to pay for your sins
and mine. After Jesus died, He was buried in a tomb. Three days
later, Jesus rose from the dead. He is still alive today. Because
of Jesus, we can be made clean on the inside and have our sins forgiven.
We can't do anything to fix our
broken insides -- our sinful hearts -- but we can trust in Jesus to do that
for us. Have you trusted in Jesus to be your Savior? If not, why
not trust in Jesus today. E-mail me, Miss Missy, at this address if you
have questions on how to do that: cef-cm@bwkip.com
