DIED FOR YOU

 

With the 1st anniversary of September 11th coming this week, many people are thinking back to that day one year ago when America was attacked and many people died in New York, Washington DC, and in a plane crash in western Pennsylvania. 

 

There were hundreds of people who died on that September day who were not in the buildings when the planes crashed.  They didn't work at the Pentagon.  They didn't work at the World Trade Center.  They were the firemen, policemen, and rescue workers who got the call about the attacks and immediately rushed to the scene to help.  They had a job to do.  A big job.  These brave men and women were trained to go into those buildings and rescue people.  They knew what a dangerous job they had.  I'm sure they understood the risks.  They were willing to help.  They were willing to give their own lives to save the lives of others.  They died for people just like you.

 

There is someone else who was willing to give His life to save the lives of others.  He was willing to give His own life to save the lives of every person who ever lived.  The someone is Jesus Christ, God's perfect Son.

 

Jesus knows that all the people in the world, including you and me, are born with something much worse than sickness or disease or terrorist threats.  Every person born into the world is born in sin.  Sin is the bad things you do -- things like lying, fighting, and wanting your own way.  Sin is what caused the terrorists to hate the United States so much that they wanted to kill Americans.  Sin is a terrible thing. 

 

The Bible says this about our sin, "The soul that sinneth (sins), it shall die"  and "The wages of sin is death."  Sin is so serious that it separates us from our holy, perfect God.  You and I and every person in the world deserves to die and be separated from God because of our sin.

 

No one could save us from sin but God Himself.  That is why He sent His very own Son, Jesus, here to earth.  Jesus was willing to die in our place.  Jesus took the very thing that is killing us (our sin) and placed it on Himself.  He died for you.  He died in your place so you don't have to.

 

Jesus truly did die for you, but He didn't stay dead.  He came out of the grave alive.  He is still alive today.  We have a living Savior! 

 

Do you know Jesus as your personal Savior?  Do you have the eternal life that Jesus wants to give you so you don't have to be separated from God?  Will you tell Jesus right now you know He died for you and ask Him to come into your heart to forgive all your sin?

 

God and Jesus love you.  They don't want you to live in fear or what happened on September 11th or of what may happen in the future.  You don't have to be afraid IF you know Jesus as your Savior.
